I first knew about this animal thanks to Twitter, one day I was looking through my
timeline and I came across various pictures of this animal hanging out with other
animals of other species. This animal it’s called capybara or Hydrochoerus hydrochaeris if you prefer, they live almost in all of South America so they are
closer that what I had imagine. The reason of why they were sharing the
pictures of capybaras on Twitter is because they were bringing to light the
fact that capybaras are very social animals, so since that moment I have been
fascinated about them and the calmness that they portray when hanging out with
other species.
Nonetheless Capybaras are not only amazing
because of that, these mammals are the largest living rodent in the world! It can
grow up to 1,30 meters and weight up to 65 kg (I’m not picking them up for
sure!) As you know these animals have good social skills so they live in groups
and have an herbivore diet, because of that they spend their time grazing on
plants or fruits so it structures of teeth is pretty much like any other rodent
but bigger... something interesting about the teeth of some rodent is that they are able
to grow them back because of the damage it produce constantly eating grass. Capybaras are also very
good swimmers so part of their time goes in that activity. In adittion to that, even so they are mostly
relaxed if some kind of danger is near them, they can run as fast as a horse!
So now that I know all of this stuff about capybaras I could truly say that Capybaras is on my list of favorites animal and if I have the opportunity of meeting them one day I would love to do it, I even would like to introduce them to my dog so they could become friends ^^
